Kids (Soulwax Remix) - MGMT

The other day I was watching some TV and I was flipping through the channels, when I arrived at a channel that said an MGMT tune was coming on after the break. Now I didn't recognize the preview for the video, so I got kind of excited. After the commercial break the video came on and I realized it was just an official video for the song "Kids". Now I've been listening to the band for quite sometime and would consider myself a fan, but this was not how I pictured the video. I thought it might get different at some point but it actually just freaked the fuck out of me. If you want to check out the official video here it is Kids - MGMT (Official Video)

On another note we should hear MGMT's new album sometime in January 2010. In the meantime you can try searching for some of their songs of that album which have found their way into their live shows. Three of the songs being "Congratulations", "It's Working", and "Dan Treacy" at.

So that's basically the little story behind today's choice of song. MGMT's "Kids" remixed by Soulwax.

Eh today's post is going to be rather short. I was out all day and managed to get too much sun and not enough mindfucking (or possibly water) which has resulted in me feeling like complete shit.

So here's todays tune. Monday's update will be back to normal.

Human After All (Justice Remix) - Daft Punk

Tomorrow is 09.06.09. Now some of you may ask "So what. What's your point?" Well it's been a while since we've heard any new Daft Punk, with their last album, "Human After All" being released sometime in 2005. And if you haven't noticed they seem to be releasing a new album every 4 years. Now if you crunch the numbers and do the math you will quickly realize that 2009 might just bring the release of a new Album.

With rumors floating around that a new album could drop on 09.09.09, (Rumored due to the fact that Daft Punk's sampler exploded on exactly 09:09 AM back in 09.09.99 transforming the dynamic duo into robots...) Many diehard fans believe that the two dates are no coincidence and something big might be coming.

And with the last news update on their "Alive Tour" website simply stating "Daft Punk look forward to visiting and performing in China as part of their next world your in 2010, or 2011." Following a ticket sale scam for a show in China back in February, the possibility for fresh new tracks from them definitely seems possible...

Add the fact that the pair is working the score for "TR2N", an update of the 1982 science fiction classic "Tron" scheduled for a 2011 release. And the idea of a new album seems more than possibile.

The only way we'll find out is by marking 09.09.09 off on our calendars and patiently waiting. Until then here's todays mix to keep your ears busy...

Ghosts N Stuff (Hard Intro Version) - Deadmau5

Today's Mix comes from Niagara Falls born Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5 (Pronounced "Dead Mouse"). Deadmau5 is a two time Juno award winner and also sports several other accolades. His music is described as minimal and techno with a hint of tech house, trance, and electro. Fact is that in the past 16 months this mouse has come out of his hole becoming the number one selling artist on Beatport and although he's already received tremendous recognition this "Mouse Headed DJ" is just getting things started, and I'm sure there will be more to come.

A Simple Harmonic Mindfuck

The idea to create some sort of musical blog had come and gone over the past few years, but I was never entirely sure what to base it on. It wasn't until I realized that I had stopped listening to the radio and instead spent more time searching for music which was different than what the mainstream airwaves were pumping out. I had realized that there were way better sounds out there but it wasn't always easy to find them.

Drawing that conclusion and the fact that boredom does kick in every so often, I decided to create a blog where I would post up the various types of music I happen to stumble upon.

With that said, "Simple Harmonic Mindfuck" came about. Whether the tunes make you bob your head, sing along or simply go nuts, they always end up being an "eargasm". So follow along and join the mindfucking that is good music...

The Blog will be updated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and each update will include one new song. What kind of songs you ask? Good music has no boundaries....
